Beaches in West Maui For Your Wedding

Aloha!

Wow, my post about South Maui beaches was so popular, I thought I would continue the series with the beaches of West Maui this time. West Maui is often where many of our couples stay at the major hotels on Ka'anapali Beach in West Maui. They are: the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, Westin Maui Resort, Marriott Ocean Club, Sheraton Maui, and Royal Lahaina Resort... to name a few. The beach in front of these hotels are "off limits" for weddings... and frankly, the beach is so busy that you really wouldn't want to be married there anyway. Also, West Maui does not have many other beaches. Here we will explore the two that Hawaiian Island Weddings suggests.

A Beach Wedding Permit is required for all weddings, renewals of vows, blessings, and memorials on beaches. Some packages include this and some do not.

KAPALUA BAY BEACH

KAPALUA BAY BEACH is located 25 minutes north of the resort area of Ka'anapali; Kapalua Bay was voted the number one beach in America by Travel Age Magazine three years in a row. This beautiful white sand beach features views of Molokai, Lanai, a picturesque coconut tree covered peninsula in the background and is adjacent to the coconut grove where Britney Spears had a condo at one time. Weddings are usually performed on the beach at sunset, after the many beach goers have left. This is a great beach for sunsets year round as the sun sets behind the island of Lanai. This beach can be crowded with beach-goers and there are always other weddings there at sunset. An additional travel fee of $25 for each vendor for your wedding is usually added. A permit is required.

IRONWOOD BEACH

IRONWOOD BEACH is located 30 minutes north of Kaanapali; Ironwood Beach is a very secluded beach on the West side. It features fluffy white sand with very large dramatic waves most of the time. The beach has it´s own parking lot, but rarely is there another wedding scheduled here. Although you can not see the sunset from this beach, the charm is it´s seclusion and raw forces of nature. This is a popular location for larger groups who want a more private ceremony in West Maui. Good for morning weddings or sunset. An additional travel fee of $25 for each vendor for your wedding is usually added. A permit is required.
